Nimbnet is eagerly anticipating a decision from Klimatklivet regarding grant applications for the construction of charging stations in Alvesta and Ljusdal. These strategically selected locations are poised to play a crucial role in Nimbnet’s mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable heavy transport.

Why Alvesta and Ljusdal?

Alvesta, strategically located in Småland, is a vital hub for heavy transport operations. The region’s robust industrial sector, coupled with its proximity to major transportation corridors, makes it an ideal location for a high-power charging station. Such a facility would significantly reduce emissions and support the region’s economic growth.

Ljusdal, situated in Hälsingland, is another key target for Nimbnet. Known for its forestry and timber industry, the region relies heavily on heavy-duty vehicles. A charging station in Ljusdal would not only benefit local businesses but also contribute to Sweden’s broader sustainability goals.

A Path to Electrification

Nimbnet initially submitted grant applications to Klimatklivet for both Alvesta and Ljusdal in the fall of 2023. Faced with unforeseen delays in the grant decision-making process and a tight project deadline of June 2024, Nimbnet withdrew their applications in February 2024. Undeterred, Nimbnet resubmitted the applications in the spring of 2024 and is expecting a decision in August 2024.

Our experience indicates that securing land and obtaining necessary permits can be time-consuming. However, having a land agreement in place, we plan to start the permit applications as soon as the project is approved. Simultaneously, we will order charging equipment and other materials. Land preparation and construction are slated to commence post-winter and primarily progress during summer 2025. We aim to offer charging services by autumn 2025, although complete land stabilisation may extend into autumn 2026.

In the meantime, we will provide updates on the status of our grant applications as soon as possible. We are optimistic about the potential for these projects and look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.
