Several leading truck manufacturers, such as Volvo, Scania and Mercedes-Benz, are set to showcase their latest electric trucks at the upcoming eComExpo in Arlandastad’s Scandinavian XPO on September 27-28.

In this one of Sweden’s most significant annual events, attendees can test drive electric trucks from various manufacturers worldwide. Tickets for the expo will be available for sale starting in mid-June.

Marketing director of eComExpo, Anna Fägersten, said the presence of top electric truck brands in the event, as well as the opportunity to test drive their vehicles on the spot, serve as definitive proof that eComExpo has evolved into the prominent hub where the entire transportation industry convenes to address the transition towards fossil-free transport.

Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future

Similarly, Stefan Lindblom, director of business support at Scania Sweden, said the company’s participation in the inaugural eComExpo highlighted the event’s growing significance as a crucial meeting point for fossil-free transport.

The executive underlined that electrification is a major transition for Scania and society to achieve sustainability and meet climate goals. He also underscored the importance of collaboration between businesses, authorities and trade associations to realize this transition, saying that eComExpo provides an excellent platform to delve into these matters collectively.

CEO of Volvo Trucks Sweden, Stefan Strand, also said that Volvo shares a common vision with eComExpo in driving efforts towards a more sustainable society and fossil-free transportation. Volvo Trucks and Volvo Construction Equipment have previously set ambitious environmental goals for net zero emissions.

The vision entails two main aspects: making Volvo’s vehicles operate without relying on fossil fuels and gradually shifting towards using fossil-free and recycled alternatives to produce its vehicles.

According to Strand, eComExpo serves as a powerful platform for Volvo to participate in achieving these goals.

In addition to participating in the upcoming September expo, Volvo has entered into a recent agreement with Swedish multinational power company Vattenfall. The agreement includes the sale of 50 percent of the electricity generated by the Bruzaholm wind farm to Volvo Group over ten years starting in the last quarter of 2025.

The Bruzaholm wind park, comprising 21 wind turbines and associated facilities, is slated to begin construction in the summer of 2023 with the goal of becoming fully operational by autumn 2025.
