Swedish electric vehicle company Polestar has surpassed the impressive milestone of delivering over 10,281 units of the Polestar 2 to customers in the country, with 695 new Polestar 2 registered in May alone, according to a recently released report by Mobility Sweden.

The company reported that most customers prefer the light gray “Magnesium” when choosing their Polestar 2. What sets the color apart from other options is that it does not incur an additional cost of 10,000 SEK.

The fully electric mid-size fastback sedan has multiple motor options to cater to different driving preferences. It offers single motor (front-wheel drive) and dual motors (all-wheel drive) configurations.

The standard range single motor variant provides a range of 273 miles, making it suitable for daily commuting and other travel needs. If drivers require an extended range, the long-range single-motor version offers up to 335 miles of range, while the long-range dual-motor variant provides a range of 298 miles.

The Polestar 2 has two charging options — public charging and home charging. Public charging can charge the Polestar 2 up to 80 percent in approximately 40 minutes using a compatible public charger.

For home charging, a compatible home wall box can fully charge the Polestar 2 in approximately 7 hours, offering flexibility and convenience for charging needs — ideal for drivers who can charge their vehicle overnight or during the day at home.

New Polestar Facility Set to Open Next Year

Aside from its plan to initiate deliveries in Hammarby Sjöstad starting early next year, Polestar has also revealed plans for a new facility north of Stockholm, which is set to become the largest facility of its kind worldwide.

The establishment, projected to open in the first half of 2024, will allow visitors to browse a range of new and pre-owned models, partake in test drives, and access maintenance services.

The Stockholm region holds a prominent position for Polestar regarding sales volume within Sweden. In the near future, Polestar will introduce three distinct vehicle models. These models include the highly anticipated electric SUVs, the Polestar 3, and Polestar 4.

The new facility holds immense value as it will serve as a crucial hub for facilitating the delivery process and further expanding Polestar’s product lineup.

This year, the company has set an estimated global delivery target of 60,000 to 70,000 cars, which was revised down from its initial 80,000 target due to the delayed release of the Polestar 3. The release of the Polestar 3 is now anticipated to take place next year.
