Tesla Model Y’s May Sales Soar

The Tesla Model Y achieved a remarkable milestone in May by delivering 1,903 units, marking its second-highest monthly result (following 3,202 units in March).

Coinciding with this achievement, it has been reported by The Kilowatts (ex-Tesla employee) on Twitter that Tesla has initiated the delivery of Model Y vehicles featuring its Hardware 4 self-driving technology package.

The locally beloved Volvo XC40 secured the second position with 1,041 units, while the Volkswagen ID.4 claimed the third spot with 837 units.

Completing the top five positions were two additional regional models: the Polestar 2, with 695 units recorded, and the Volvo C40, which sold 556 units.

Claiming the 6th spot is the Škoda Enyaq, registering 518 units, while the 7th spot is occupied by the MG Marvel R, with 406 units sold. The Audi Q4 e-tron secured the 8th spot with its best monthly performance in a couple of years, delivering 387 units.

The 9th position in the rankings is occupied by the KIA EV6, with 387 units sold, while the 10th position is held by the KIA Niro, which recorded 349 units. Taking the 11th position is the Volkswagen ID.3 with 337 units sold, closely followed by the BMW i4 in 12th place with 331 units.

Following the trends in Norway, the Toyota BZ4X (ranked 13th) and the MG4 (ranked 15th) experienced impressive growth, setting record sales volumes in the Swedish market in May.

It will be interesting to see how these models continue to rise in the rankings. Recent software upgrades for the BZ4X, improving battery and charging capabilities, have significantly enhanced its appeal.

In Sweden, the MG5 estate/tourer is outselling the MG4, which is a unique occurrence compared to other markets. This data suggests that Swedes appreciate the practicality of the classic vehicle format offered by the MG5 and recognise its excellent value.
