Nimbnet is designed to be an open network providing convenient charging options for drivers of electric heavy trucks and cars in Sweden. Therefore, Nimbnet welcome customers of other networks to access our chargers. Nimbnet’s data suggests that Sweden will need around 2500 public EV charging stations so many companies need to cooperate to build them all. These stations will support people on long trips or those living in apartments without access to their own charging points. Therefore, it is delightful to learn that Storuman Energi will build a fast electric charging station in Storuman which is aiming to be Sweden’s most beautiful.

The station in Storuman is located in the north of Sweden, a perfect driving distance of approximately 240 kilometers north of Nimbnet’s charging station being built in Nordmaling. The Storuman station’s primary function is to provide a convenient and reliable energy source for electronic vehicles. However, thanks to its design and beautiful scenery, the drivers will be able to enjoy the environment around them while they charge.

Storuman is a municipality in Västerbotten County in northern Sweden, located in the province of Lapland, near the border to Norway. Storuman is famous for its harsh winters, stunning landscapes, and indigenous Sami culture. The municipality covers an area of approximately 2,500 square kilometers and has a population of around 5,808 people (Statistikmyndigheten, 2022). The town is also home to several small communities, including Storuman, Högfors, and Tvärålund and many cultural and historical sites, including the Stensele Church, the Stensele Mill, and the Storuman Homestead Museum. Well worth a visit, by car perhaps?

The new Storuman charging station is drawn by Tanken Architecture, a Norwegian architectural agency, and has a great focus on design. It will have room for eight vehicles and a charging capacity of 180 kilowatts, which enables relatively fast charging and serves the big demand for electric car charging infrastructure in Storuman and the surrounding area. The station is in the center of Storuman, by the famous beautiful Blå Vägen (Blue Road) running from the coast of Norway, through Sweden and all the way to the border of Finland.

The station will be an essential part of Storuman municipality’s endeavor to increase the attractiveness and safety of Storuman’s center, where they want to increase accessibility to services in the area, make the town square more attractive and valuable for both residents and tourists, and increase traffic safety.

The Norwegian-Swedish group, the parent of Storuman Energi, has established many similar stations in Norway. They all combine electric car charging with pleasant experiences for drivers. However, the station in Storuman will be the company’s first electric charging station in Sweden. In a speech, Måns Borgström, CEO of Storuman Energi, expressed the company’s wish to create appealing, environment-friendly charging stations. This will support the company’s mission to drive innovation in the energy field and contribute to a fossil-free transition.

Nimbnet is applauding the effort. Who is to say that our future can’t be both efficient, clean, AND beautiful? Our chargers will be able to sustain up to 350kilowatts of charging, so we hope to get our customers on the road as quickly as possible, but we promise to take inspiration from Storuman and make our stations not only as beautiful, but also as accessible as possible and with the least environmental impact possible.

Together we can reach the 1.5-degree temperature limit goal in a beautiful way!
